That's not bad at all! The longest I've gone is about 50 days of straight sea time. We did that a few times on our last deployment. There are ships that will beat that..one that was out there when we were made it into the 60s because they were monitoring a pirated vessel.

I would love to get on a sub for a few days, but after that I think I'd like to not do it again hah.
Oh lol, I think I wasn't clear. even I (not a Navy person) haven't seen home in periods longer than 60 days, that's just how the military works. what I meant is the minimum time is 21 days, that's just the regulations. it sucks to serve at sea here... poor bastards.
Anyhow I always wanted to spend a week on a sub... didn't have the chance yet...

BTW it's really cool seeing the pics as I've seen most of the views in person. I've gotta visit europe again sometime soon. thanks.

I love this pic because other than it being a color digital photo, there is no real reference of time..besides the building.

Ahh ok, I was going to say, 28 days isn't too bad! I've seen that many Navies don't keep their people out very long at all..particularly in the Arabian/Persian Gulf.

We hit a lot of port time during this underway because we went out solely for a join exercise. That alone required us to pull into port twice for the in and out briefs in Scotland. After that we were on our own to fart around, then we got delayed because of big storms and heavy seas in the Atalntic...which is when we pulled into Southampton.

We went to Portsmouth to visit the oldest commissioned warship in existence. HMS VICTORY is in dry dock now, which means the USS CONSTITUTION is the oldest warship still in commission that gets underway. Either way, it was pretty amazing to see how different things were.

The Wardroom plus a guest or two. We went there to honor an Ensign that just received his Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) designation/qualification pin. He's the one holding the certificate.

Thanks so much for sharing, Brian. I am in awe of the artists and craftspeople that created all that architecture and sculpture.

Neat to see it in someones photos, puts me one step closer than my art history books.

Especially the Burghers of Calais- I would love to see any 'original' Rodin's in person! (Since he usually authorized several casting made, original is a loose term, here)

The old ship was amazing. the first thing I thought was "Look at all the rigging!"

Welcome home and thanks for the pictorial tour Brian. You look like you were meant to be a naval officer, you thinking 20 years now?

Love the car pics too. Oh, the TVR isn't an 8, it's an inline 6 producing 380bhp. 0-60 under 4.

Keep your head down dude and take care of yourself.

Those are some great pictures. How much down time do you have now?

Thanks. We leave for a regular deployment early next year. It was pushed back from a departure date of Xmas eve!

Heh I should've recognized the statue then because I took a few art history classes when I was in college. It has been a few years though and I haven't really kept up on a lot of that stuff.

Thanks Patrick. Still not 100% sure on the 20 years deal or not. I still have 3 more years to decided if I want to do any more than 4. As of right now, my plan is to stay in, but a lot can change in 3 years.

Ahh didn't realize it was a 6. It sounded pretty loud, I guess maybe it just has a good amount of displacement. I'd have to look it up. TVR's are just known to be very fast and somewhat unreliable. haha How's everything doing out in your neck of the woods?

welcome home Brian...pictorial tour is great...

enjoy your time as a young officer and learn all you can...it won't be long before you have 3 or 4 strips on your cuff or maybe even a wide one with some smaller ones...

great pics!! it'd be very cool to visit the european & UK nations.

In case you didn't know or realize..I like graffiti.

some of us know this.....next question would be, did you leave your mark ? :hell::lol:

BTW you should show some of your work. I know everyone has different opinions with graffiti, theres some that look really cool, the gang bang crap is that...crap. but some other stuff is art IMO.
