That sounds like a healthy and tasty treat Frydad. Back in San Antonio I used to get chili covered dried plums and figs. Figs had more of a sweet chili covering while the plums were more a chili lime covering. They were good though.
Man, just getting around to looking at the final entries from the weekend. Good job, everybody!
Our TD was massively fun. Was good having SB up here in the Dirty South. Much debauchery ensued...great times.

I am sad to hear LogChief can't make the Cajun TD. I know that his real-life work involves wildfires and there's also a grandbaby on the way.

Cook anything spicy with mangos in it.
Has to have mangos, has to have hot peppers, has to have "proof of life" money in a teaser pic.
You can make anything you want, but you better bring it! Salsalady is fierce competition.

Where I live used to be mango and avocado fields. I have a nice, tropical back yard with several avocado and mango trees that must be 75 years old. They have been cut down many times, you can tell by looking at the trunk.
But they are 40 feet tall and produce some of the most delicious fruit I have ever had. The fruit fall to the ground when they are ready. In the middle of the night, every night, 5-6 mangos pound on my roof right above where I sleep.
Gives me a good excuse for wetting the bed.
The biggest problem is that the mangos all drop in a 3 week span. Here is 2 days bounty, minus what I've already eaten, frozen, given away, or not picked yet.

The project we've been working on here in Nawlins is completed (and the company didn't win the bids they had out for new work), so moving back to the hacienda in Texas this weekend...
...next weekend I'll be back and setup in my home kitchen ready to do battle.

FD4- I'm envious of you right now, but I can imagine that it can be too much of a good thing with a huge tree and huge harvest.

Proof-of-life (usually some money amount) must be in one of the pics, doesn't have to be in all the pics. This one is a little different in that we can post as many prep/preliminary pics as we want, but the final post can only have 2 pictures of the completed dish along with a title for the dish, ingredients list and cooking description.

I have the stupidest idea ever.....but it won't leave my head.
I'm still on assignment here in NM and AZ and know I won't be home before at least next Thur. or Fri. but could easily go longer. So I thought it best to bow out and take my lumps now so maybe someone else could have a crack at SL, but they better bring their lunch.
The fires probably knew I'd get my ass kicked so they saving me the shame of defeat, but they'll be a next time.
