En-gi-nerd's Hydro Glog
I thought I would compile some photos here to track my progress. I would love to hear from anyone that has questions, concerns or criticisms of what I am doing - an open forum can lead to great improvements. I don't take things personally - I'm in it for the peppers.   This is my second run at hydro peppers (and tomatoes) - I let the first one get way out of hand and it became expensive during the summer due to our power company's "Two Tier" system and the fact that I was running 20 T5 bulbs at a little over 1000 total watts! This system is scaled down considerably and is being run much more efficiently.   The set up: I have a Hydrofarm 2x4 flood table, Rubbermaid storage bin for a reservoir (~16 gallon max? I run about 12 gallons in...
KiNGDeNNiZ... keep moving forward!!
Actually more of a journal for me. Just like to see all the progressions. This year 2013 I got hit with what was believed to be thrips. They consumed one plant after another. My veggies were all destroyed by spider mites. And now my struggling in ground plants are being consumed by aphids. So many buds and flowers. Too bad they won't make it. But hey. I did t have grubs this year Thanks to all that sent pods. Powders. Hot sauces. And seeds. Although I wasn't able to do fresh pod giveaways. I was and still doing powder and seed giveaways. I've started some new ones late in the summer and plan to go into full swing in a week. Here are the big boys. From this To this. Soil is roots organic. And some coco I've also give hydro a...
Ignite's Indoor Coco Grow 2015
Hey all!  I've been very busy over the last few weeks working on my indoor "grow lab" and getting a new round of indoor plants started.  I wanted to start this GLog earlier but just didn't have the time to resize, upload, and post all of the pictures I have been taking.  I finally was able to get caught up with everything and decided to go ahead and start this thing.    Overview   I have the capacity to grow about 35-40 plants indoors using hydroponics.  A very good friend of mine owns a grow shop in town which means that I get to grow about 25 of the plants in his shop as a display for customers and to use as a test bed for new nutrient lines.  I'll be growing the remaining 10 to 15 plants at my place.  All of my plants are superhots...
stc3248's 2014 small wild grow
Well...after much debate between mama and I, WE (she) have come to the conclusion that I may have grown a few too many plants the past few seasons???    2012 I grew out about 70 plants not including the huge number of ornamental peppers which about doubled that number. I didn't regularly harvest the ornamental plants so I ain't counting those...and in spite of some virus issues I was able to put together an epic season. So epic in fact that I had to purchase a chest freezer to store all the excess pods for future processing.  Here is one 2012 pull...I had numbers like this EVERY weekend! My season started (too) early and lasted until Christmas that year. I finally finished processing them just before I started pulling...
White Cloud cross Dorset Naga
Hey guys, I'm attempting to cross a White Cloud sweet pepper with a Dorset Naga. I know annuums and chinenses are only partially fertile so I have a few flowers crossed on a few White Cloud plants. The only reason I've chosen these two is that the Dorset Naga was the only plant flowering at the time when the White Cloud opened it's first flower so I decided to go with that.   I guess there won't be many updates until I plant the seeds of these pods and see what F1 pods look like. Just in case I have also crossed the Dorset Naga with a Purple Beauty sweet pepper, the more the merrier, will see which one works.   I do have a question though - if this cross works, will it be an annuum or a chinense i.e. will I have multiple buds per node...
Well, I am finally creating a blog here.  I started making my wish list back last year and collected seeds throughout the year.  Weeded it down a bit, but then I ordered some addtional seeds from PepperLover and of course I got a bunch or extra seeds which I had to include in my grow this year.   Here is the list of what I finally put into the germination pots.  I listed where I got the seeds so I could trace how successful they were as well as what the differences might be is I have the same kind of pepper from a couple different sources.   These were all started Mid January.     Type                                                   Obtained from 7 Pod Barackpore                               seed swap  June 2013  Torno 7 Pod Brain...
HAJ's hajj to chili
Guess it is about time I make a GLOG... I'm living in cold Denmark, which means that everything is indoors, either in the greenhouse (spring and summer only) or in the south facing windows in the house. This again means that everything is in pots, and most in too small pots (that is also a consequence of growing more plants than I have room for). This is the list of plants that I currently have: Updates 2013-08-13 in red Annum: - Filius Blue - Peruvian Purple - Hungarian Hot Wax * 2 - Some Cayenne type of uncertain origin * 2 Bacatum: - Aji Lemon Drop (4th season) - Aji Benito - Blondie * 2 - Criolla Sella Chinense: - Chocolate Habanero (2nd season) - GRIF 9293 (2nd season) - Some Bhut Jolokia like chili of uncertain origin (2nd...
Juanitos 2015 test MFRB glog
Info So in 2015 i will be selling MFRB of seedlings, 4 fit in each box, 28$ total (4$ a plant + 12$ the shipping comes to 28$) They will be about 6-8 inches tall and about 14 weeks old. they should be more hearty than other plant vendors because they should be older and have bigger root systems in the 3 inch pots. I started listing some of the varieties on my website and you can preorder if you want, or just wait till march. http://juanitospeppers.com/index.php/products/pepper-plants ===================================================================================== Test start  So you might ask... why are you making a glog in October? I'm doing a test run / pilot project to make sure i got all the kinks worked out before i go full...
I bring you this information amidst much mockery and questioning of my sexuality and virility, but my wife can shut up about it if she knows what's good for her.   Yes.  You.  Go to bed.   http://50.72.217.75:83/Peppers/klog/   This shall document my war against the aphids in my basement.  The bards shall tell stories across the ages.  Women shall want me, and men will want to be me.   Highlights: The few actual peppers currently growing. The spray of choice. The aphids in their natural habitat. Weird stuff on some of the bigger plants, originally grown at my cousins.  Likely a new form of death from my plants that I've now imported. Zoomed aphid, RIGHT IN YOUR FACEHOLES.         We join our intrepid hero near the start of the second...

Stickman's 2014 Glog- That's all folks!
Hi All,    I've got Manzanos sprouted and my Bhuts, Lotah Bih and Donne Sali seeds planted so it looks like time to leave 2103 behind and begin to concentrate on 2014. Last year I started some of my late-season varieties right after New Year's Day, but our season was too short to bring the pods to full ripeness so this year I started 2-3 weeks earlier.   Manzano seedlings...   Fruts and Bhuts ;) ...   There are many more varieties yet to plant in the proper turn, and I have 4 overwintered pepper plants from 2013 that I'll report on later. Have a great weekend all!

Pulpiteer 2014 Grow log - Prepping for next year!
Finally, I will get this glog going for the season.  I'm excited for lots of gardening this year, and hopefully a better harvest year this year after our cold and slow start to summer in 2013.  I hope this winter is not an indication of how summer will go, as we are having one of the snowiest winters on record.   Here is the pepper garden on Christmas Eve.   Now imagine it with another 2-3 feet of snow on it. I need to get another picture. It's ridiculous. So, what do we do? We plan for the garden! This year's pepper grow list is a bit trimmed down. The goal is 115-120 pepper plants. We'll see. 2014 Grow list 1. Red Rocoto - Tradewinds 2. Yellow Manzano - Hooda 3. Giant Mexican Rocoto - pepperlover 4. Golden Rocoto - pepperlover 5...
cone9 - The Epilogue (2014 Glog)
Well, lets give this a go - it certainly won't be up to par with some of these great Glogs but...   I just planted this morning.  Last year I started my plants in March.  This year I'm more on the ball (I hope!). I decided to try Oasis Rootcubes.  I bought a 104 cell sheet of the 1 1/4" cubes.  They are housed in a Jiffy seed starting greenhouse atop a Milliard heat mat.  Temperature is at 78 degrees F.   Once I get some growth, light will be a hodgepodge  of T5 and cheap ebay LED bulbs.   I had pared my list down to 15 - it grew to 18 - I planted 19 with a few more seeds evincing such arguments for inclusion I'll probably be wetting them soon as well.  It is so hard to say no to pepper seeds!   Planted so far:   1/1     7 Pot...

Very first try at growing peppers. Rymerpt 2014 ( 2 pod CHALLENGE VIDEOS)
The seedlings are Thai and the egg carton is Thai seeds. The other little pots have habenero seeds. I'm also gonna try some supperhot seeds when the package arrives from Smiley. (Thanks again Mike) I'll post progress often I'm sure. Yesterday the seedlings moved from a small six pack to their new nesting grounds. All rest in nothing but organic seed starter soil and water. The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2014...CLOSED FOR THE 2014 SEASON
Today launches The Pacific Northwest GLOG, geared towards growers from this region.  Since there appears to be disagreement on what states, and areas, actually comprise the Pacific Northwest, I will use a broad definition, in order to include more growers.  If anyone thinks the definition could be even more broad, it can always be changed.  Come one, come all.   Oregon Washington Alaska Northern California Idaho Montana Wyoming British Columbia   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Northwest   I am from the Rogue Valley, in southern Oregon, so, I will begin with a couple of shots from my yard, which over looks the Rogue River.       Me, and my Cacho de Cabra, which stands at 4' tall.   Some non-chinenses.   Chinenses.   GRIF 9265...
Valo grow (indoor & outdoor)
Hi everyone! :)   I recently started an indoor grow to coincide with my outdoor grow. I am pretty new to growing plants at all, so forgive any silly questions I have.. :)       Photo was taken before can fans and ducting was fitted. I also have brought the light down to about 45cm from the top of the plants. I have 2 habaneros in the tent under a 400w hps light on 24/0. Outside, I have 2 habaneros and 1 bhut jolokia.     Here is one of my indoor Habs. These 2 indoor plants have been topped. Will these nodes flower or actually branch out?     Here is my other indoor Hab.     My Bhut Jolokia. Forgive the silly question, but do Bhuts always give a crazy amount of leaves? Should I trim some of the bottom bits? *waits for constructive...
Bhut Jolokia-Attempt 2
Trying this out again, I recently tried growing ghost peppers for the first time. I had one out of four germinate using the in-soil method. Then about a week later it died. This time i tried the wet paper towel method for germinating with more success. This time ill try using florescent lamps to get the seedling going instead of a sunny window sill. We'll see how it goes this time.          Update- Well looks like plant #2 has died. Good news is i have successful 4/4 germination in my other seeds. I think ill wait until they grow more until planting them this time. Ill see how that works. Not sure what im doing wrong.
Hello All,   New here, but feeling right at home. I figured I'd go ahead and get my glog started, though I may wait a few weeks yet before starting anything.   I'm pretty new, not totally new. I had a small grow last year, mostly in containers, bringing up plants that I hoped would make cool overwinter bonsai's (bonchi's). I ordered a handful of different varieties from http://fataliiseeds.net, all  95% of which sprouted nicely, though something must have gone wrong because many never grew true leaves. I think my house was too cold... I've moved now and now have an excellent heating system. I also kept the seeds by a window that I think got too drafty.    I did have a handful of chinenses survive, including a wonderful Red Habanero from...
SO after losing all my overwinter pepper plants from the last few years it has been a rebuild year. JJJ Glog 2014.....in summary
Whew! 2013 Swirling down the Drain of Time.   Washing the 10x20s for a New Year.       By last October I was so peppered out  -40 some superhot plants and over twice that many mild and sweets. Didn't think I'd ever see the end of it. But, an early surprise freeze caught me off guard and I lost several mild and sweeties. I did get almost the entire superhot crop, dried, smoked, fermented, frozen or pickled. so I should have no dearth of heat to see me through to 2014 harvest.   I owe most of my pepper success in 2013 to YOU. All the folks here at THP helped me from seed, to advice, to encouragement, to inspiration.  Couldn't have done it without y'all.   Some changes for 2014:     I'm moving my Cappy 1000 Pepper Incubator into my...
Hey everybody Well,I'm back, and I am as ready as ever. Lsst year was my first year and yes, there were a lot of mistakes, but it was okay :) This year I am detormined to have an awesome grow, let's just hope mother nature plays along well ;) This year I am growing many variaties, but I'll give my full grow list later. For now I am planting 100 7pot bubblegum seeds. I will be planting a total of 250 bubblegum seeds. I would like to thank Brain Strain Pepper Head for the seeds. He's realy a swell guy :) No pics yet,but as soon as I have seedlings! I will be planting them in seedling trays and keeping them inside a barrel with a lightbulb to keep it warm. Let's hope all works out this season. I also know its a little early to start, but I...

MeatHead 2014
Thought I'd start a new glog as my 1st year grow plants have now gone, and all remaining plants are intended for the 2014 season. Currently have growing with hopes of keeping through winter- Yellow bhut jolokia Brain strain Aji limon Chocolate Trinidad scorpion Fatalii Black Hungarian Chinese 5 colour. Have all healthy plants bar 1 out of 6 inch pots and in either permanent or semi permanent homes. Due to messing up the labels I'm not sure which is which on the Chinense varieties. Have 1 seedling that was seriously struggling, but it's starting to throw out new leaves so there's hope for it yet. Hoping we either have a mild Winter here, or I can get some lights set up in our spare bedroom to get them through until Spring. Have a few...
Sm1nts2escape's 2014 First Glog
Welcome to my Glog! This will be my first year growing peppers. Last year was my first for growing tomatoes but I grew from starter plants. So with that being said I will probably be making some mistakes and would appreciate your advice if you notice something. Anyways,  I purchased a Secret Jardin Dark Propagator 90 (DP90) 3x2x3 grow tent and two 300w led fixtures off of ebay to get this season started. Everything has broke the surface minus the Brown Bhut (dried pods), Jalabanero (frozen Pods) and  Red Congo (Frozen Pods). I am hoping they will do something soon. One thing that has me puzzled is the Blue/purple tint that has developed on say 65% of my pepper seedlings. I don't know if I should be concerned but they are still kicking...
ikeepfish's 2014 grow log...season's end is nigh
I tried keeping a winter grow log of my indoor growing, but I was distracted too much by a girl I had been dating and let my endeavors go to the wayside.  More specifically, there was what I call an "aphidpocalypse" in my aquaponics and hydroponics that I wasn't doing a great job of keeping in check.  Only a few Thai plants survived as well as some plants I had overwintered.  Oh well, I have more seeds than I know what to do with, and I'm gunna keep on truckin'   That being said, I'm giving it another go with my seeds and indoor growing, which most will be going into the raised beds and in buckets out on the patio.  My grow list includes   C. chinense   Reaper Fatalii Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Trinidad Scorpion chocolate Trinidad...

Blitz 11/2014 Grow Logs.
Hey guys,   this is my purple habanero plant. It is 30 days old since sprout. I had some problems at the beginning with the lights and the plants took mostly 12hours of light (18x2w 6400K CFL) each day for 2 weeks.     Since 2 weeks I have them under a 400w MH lamp and everything grows much better.   Here are some pictures.         I am not sure what is the standard height at this age of the plant. Any thoughts?
la bestia's 1st super hot grow
First time growing super hot strains, so any advice or pointers would be welcome and appreciated. I started some ebay scorpion moruga plants during winter indoors and ended up with 3 plants that lost most of the leaves but stayed alive and are coming back nicely outside, I hope they are actually morugas and not sweet peppers, lol. And recently made an order with Buckeye and their April fools special. I ordered 3 strains and received a bunch of freebies, nice knowledgeable people and great customer service. I planted about half of the Buckeye seeds of each variety, and had 90% plus germination except for the manzanos. I think I will need to use the paper towel method for the manzanos big black seeds.     I ordered, Manzano orange Douglah...
