Whats the hottest thing you have ever eaten?

Relative newbie to the game, but the hottest thing I've ever eaten has been a plain old hab, diced into a bowl of chili. I enjoy hab by itself, but tend to take very small bites.

    preservation Preserving open pods?

Sometimes I find I enjoy having just a little nip of a pepper. Usually when I take off just a little bit, though, the remainder is quite quick to mold. Any ideas for extending shelf life?

I've been there and done that. It's even more "fun" when it's also backwards.

    Building tolerance?

I don't think so. It came as part of a larger bundle, and the ingredients were on the box the bundle came in. Going by the way it felt in my throat, I'd say it had some cayenne and some generic 'chili powder'. This was the first time any of the bottles in the bundle gave that kind of...

    Building tolerance?

With such a big gap between the hottest normals and a super, and it begs the question: why the gap? With pepper hybridization, shouldn't it eventually be possible to aim for a new cultivar every 50,000 SHU or so? (Keep in mind, I know very, very little of gardening, and far less than that of...

    Building tolerance?

I'm already hooked on the endorphins. I just get them from serranos at the moment. I love my coffee, but when it comes to waking me up, it just doesn't do anywhere near as good a job. I must admit, I adore the flavor of a hab.

Carbon isotopes are more complicated than I initially thought, and I expect I'll develop a greater appreciation for that over the next few years.

Just a little bit. Why is it whenever I come upon an ask any question style of thread, the first thing that pops into my head is always a math question?

    Building tolerance?

How long does it generally take to build up to the hots? I've tried a couple of habs, but I'm really not ready for them yet. I also didn't wear gloves when slicing one...big mistake.

What significance does your Username have?

My name came from a very obscure character in a fantasy book. I first used it when I was 13, and it's stuck with me ever since.

    From flowers to peppers

I'm rather a new hand at gardening in general, and pepper growing particularly (the last couple of years I've tried, pests destroyed my plants). I've been trying to grow serranos this year, and results haven't been terribly spectacular. The plant's still only a foot high, and, while it's got a...

    Hello from Redding, CA

Hello, everyone. How goes? I've enjoyed spice all my life, but am newly trying to get a bit more in to it. I've been trying to grow serranos, with limited success so far.
