Well it's 2017. Finally! Last year was a success, as far as the ground plants were concerned. Virgin, clay ground. My Chinese got smacked by hail twice! No room for error with those. Out of 12 plants I got ONE BBG. First and only. That variety is cursed. Tried for the past 3 years and some sort of calimity happens. This year I decided to try 21+ different varieties of the BBG. I have 9 Reaper crosses. 21 and counting other varieties. I built a hoophouse and some COB led's. Planning on getting them outside in March sometime. That might be a delusion, beings I'm in Colorado. We shall see. There is only a few varieties that I've grown before. The rest are all new. I'm planning on isolating most of them. Just started some Lemon Drops...
HM01 2017 Seedless Glog
I said I wasn't going to start a glog this year since my season will be cut short (moving this summer), but not growing things just seems weird to me. So here we go.      I have about ten OW chile plants that I will be keeping in containers (let's see if they survive the move...). They aren't much to look at now, but I'll post pics once they go outside.      Since I'm not starting seeds for peppers and tomatoes, my grow lights were feeling neglected. I decided to take advantage of this opportunity to start some hybrid poplar clones from and for my family's land up in 'Sconnie.      When my family first moved there in the late '80s I remember taking a walk with my mom and digging up a poplar sucker to transplant. It turned out that...
Rymerpt's 2017 place to post stuff
I wanted to just kerp adding onto my 2016 glog, but thought it was best to follow the rules. This year I'm trying something a bit different. I'm overwintering everything. That's right, no new seeds this year. I now have a tiny greenhouse. In this greenhouse are what I hope will be viable plants for 2017. I have two bells that will be heading into their third season, a couple aji pineapples going for a third sesson, a tepin X lemondrop going for a third season. A reaper, a brown moruga, a peach but, and a couple others. I also have, under the awening and looking good, my two ghosts (in huge pots). I have found that I do much better with growing in big buckets. This year the in-ground plot will be for tomatoes and other vegies. This...
Peter S - 2017 grow
Here's my grow so far for this year. I started these early January. The large peppers in the basement are over winters. I'm trying to get my grow down, to around half (or a little more) than last year. I'm hoping this will be more manageable and less wasted peppers :) My grow methods this year will be Kratky (fill and forget and static nutrient level systems), self watering containers (diy earthboxes), and grow bags with potting mix on drip system fed with Master Blend. Also will continue to run some indoor hydro using DWC and sprayaponic methods. All my peppers will be fed with mix of MasterBlend, Magnesium Sulfate and Calcium Nitrate.   Here're my overwinters, hard to distinguish from this angle, but the back left is Jamaican Hot...
Dennish 2017 - It's Chilli in Yorkshire
Happy New Year!   Still deliberating over my ‘final’ list as per usual!  It will be 'more of the same' with some small tweaks here and there, and no radical changes in approach from me.  I feel I’m close to optimum in terms of squeezing the maximum potential out of my small greenhouse space (8’ x 6’).   Here's my current thinking on the line-up and GH layout, likely to change a bit;     The game is now afoot!  Early sowings in my trusty Garland Fab 4 on New year’s Day;   My Crosses Aji Bodysnatcher F3 Yorkshire Barghest F1 (I only have 2 seed, fingers crossed!)   Competition Scotch Bonnet MOA (http://thehotpepper.com/topic/62887-land-of-the-giants-2017-biggest-bonnet-competition/) Aji Lemon Drop...
Donnie's Short Season Grow 2017
Finally, I have something to show.  I am working mostly on my crosses, top priority has been developing cold hardier varieties, since I am not able to grow chinense plants at all outside due to low temperatures. This summer has been historically cold, we only had 1 so-called "summer day" in July with temperatures above 25 degress Celsius (77 degr. Fahrenheit), it's been in the range with max. temps of 18-22 C. (64-72 F.) I started my breeding with the Naga Morich, which I crossed with an early flowering dwarf Pequin variety called Pequin da Ischia, this year I have 5 plants in the F7 generation, last year all 4 plants looked identical, so it seems stabilized. The plants started flowering about 6-7 weeks ago, by comparison most...
juanitos 2017
My goal this year is to make a system with minimal maintenance while also being easy to setup and process plants.   Getting your medium ready can be messy / time consuming with potting mix. So this year i went with coco plugs. I simply had to put them in the trays give em some water and they are ready to go. They will be easy to handle without making a mess in 3 months when i package them.   The biggest part of maintenance is watering / nutrients. In the past when i was smaller i just individually watered 1020 trays. While this works it is slow / can be messy. Spraying everything with misters is an option but that makes everything super humid and can affect electronics (like led strips) in the area. I have been using bottom watering for...
Last Harvest and Praying Mantis Eggs
Hey guys and gals of THP. I hope everyone is doing well! Just finished my last big harvest.  Can you guess the varieties?  :P Still waiting for a few more pubes Praying mantis LOVE the c. praetermissum! I think I can take these egg sacs inside, and place them in the fridge and then hatch them around my plants in the spring to prevent aphids. Anybody know about raising praying mantis? Let me know.  c. praetermissum peppers.  Plant is huge! All my container plants are done, but the in grounds are still killing it. BOC and Carolina reapers.  Hope yall enjoyed! Have a good winter and cheers to next year's bountiful harvest.
Charlesquik's Growing 2017 2.0
Time for a new glog as photobucket destroyed all the pictures links.   I uploaded all my photos to imgur   Ill try my best to remake it ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   I started planting when the snow was starting to melt around February 19th.   The main goal this year is to make the prototype of an automated greenhouse. We will then make a big greenhouse on the family woodlot that need zero human intervention.    Also we are going to use automation for almost everything.     I tried to chose the right balance between super hot and mild so everyone in the family is happy   2 x Yellow 7 pot 2 x Farmer market jalapeno 2 x Aji cito 1 x Reaper 2 x Fresno 1 X Brain...
So things have been slow ...I have been slow to get things going with my plants... Summer has officially arrived weather wise in the last week only to officially finish technically in 2 days time ... Its been cool and wet ... My glasshouse after some wild winds combined with UV damage on old plastic has rendered it useless for now. I had a few overwinters which I planted out. A few overwinters which are still in little pots which are finally away now. And a few new plants outside as well. All in all I will be lucky to get any ripe pods this year. (Although plans are afoot for some lights and DWC buckets for an experimental winter grow for this hydroponic vigin [emoji1] ) List of current plants: Chinense: 7 pot Primo x 2...
***I should have been logging my grow through the entire season in this section. I will continue the remainder of the season here and start a new log when I begin my 2018 grow.***   This season I decided to try growing my peppers completely under a cold frame. I wanted to find out if the plants would perform better under the plastic. They definitely have far exceeded what I was expecting to happen . My plants are massive by comparison to last seasons plants growing in open air. I also have gotten more production from my peppers over last season.    On July 11th I posted a video tour of my pepper garden. The plants were already looking great and the July temperatures were helping the plants start to grow fast.     I made a second...
I am starting early this year. maybe 3-4 weeks left here for outdoor growing and it will be time to put most of it to rest. I will be bringing a few plants indoors for the winter and as such, my seed starts my be more restricted this year. Lots of white flies showing up this fall and I would like to check them before the indoor retreat. Aphids? Yeah, they may hitch a ride but they are of no concern to me.   Big changes to next years grow. going to container grow again, but I am upgrading to 10 and 15 gal pots. haven't decided which yet though. 10s are wider and 15 gal are deeper.   I will continue using Nectar for the Gods nutrient line as it has not let me down and I am making inquiries as to setting up a tea making process as well.  ...
Charlesquik's 2017 Glog
Here we go for another year!    Let hope its better than last year where half my plants didnt even produce.   Im gaining experience every season so it can only get better.   This year growing list :   2 x Yellow 7 pot 2 x Farmer market jalapeno 2 x Aji cito 2 x Fresno 1 X Brain X Bhutlah (pepper north) 1 X Ghenghis (pepper north) 1 x Wiri Wiri 1 x Ôt Hièm  2 x Starfish 2 x Fatalii 1 x Trinidad perfume 1 x 7 pot chocolate gigantic SR 2 x Lìmon 1 x Trinidad moruga scorpion 1 x red scotch bonnet 2 x Aleppo (jeffcontonio) 2 x Aji jobito (jeffcontonio) 2 x Gold bhutlah ( pepper north ) 2 x 7 pot Lava (pepper north)     Red = new pepper this year   For a total of 31 plants   Man there is so much snow this year!     The greenhouse is doing...
Did up a video for my first Grow Log entry: Currently have a Carolina Reaper, Red Ghost, Red Hab, Yellow 7 Pot, and a 'Dirty' Naga growing.  Moving it all indoors in an attempt to keep them alive and see some production over winter. Have a few others started in a Jiffy tray, not sure where I'm going to fit everything yet but I'll figure it out!  Any future videos will have the camera rotated, I promise, this was something I even made note of before I started making this and it just didn't happen. :(
Hello.   So, i drug my feet doing this whole thing; started late for my zone (7a) but at least I got it going at all.  I have a bunch of little sprouts going on with cotyledons and all that, but DANG, i feel like i'm way behind, with the final frost s'posedly coming in the next few weeks.  So, I also ordered some plants from Cross Country Nurseries (aka chileplants.com) as a Plan B.     I gotta get a bunch of pictures up, but all i have right now are some nondescript sproutlings in some dirt.  I also gotta build some raised beds and whatnot.  So, yeah, I'll take some pics once i have interesting crap to take photos of.  The plan is to put a few 8'x4' beds into my tiny backyard, and work a few beds over at the local community garden...
Thought it was about time to start my first ever glog here :) I'm very lazy and too busy to update it properly but i'll do my best. This year i'm making an extra effort to keep the list tight and grow what i really like taste-wise, just a couple 'experiments'. Here's what i've sowed so far (some seedlings already up): - Myanmar Naga (landrace Burmese Naga pheno courtesy of Grant/JungleRain) - Bih Jolokia Improved Light Green (originally from Frontal Agritech, courtesy of Chris Phillips) - Yellow Bhut (scored on THP i forgot from whom... hoping is a true to form gnarly pheno or it will meet the axe LOL) - Bhut Jolokia CPI (original release courtesy of Chris Phillips) - Sonoran Chiltepin (wild landrace by narom8) - Tamaulipas Chiltepin...

Spicy Nug's 2017 Glog
Here is my 2017 Grow Log from Upstate NY.   Hello everyone, second year growing super hots. Grew about a half dozen varieties last year, and increased the volume a bit this year to around 25-30 types. Started the seeds in February, planning to make a bunch of sauces and pepper jellies along with drying/smoking and powdering whatever I can't use. About 25 plants are in 3/5 gallon buckets or 7 gallon fabric pots and the rest are in my garden area with about a dozen tomato plants.   Variety List:  Aji Jobito, Aji Pineapple, Aji White Fantasy, Anaheim, Bahamian Beast, Bahamian Goat, Big Yellow Mama, Bleeding Borg 9, Chocolate Hab, Chocolate Scorpion, Giant Butch T x Reaper, Giant White Habanero, Jalapeño Yellow, Malawi Piquante, MOA Scotch...

California grown and still kicking out peppers.
Hey guys it's been some time since I've been active here on the site. Haven't stepped away from growing peppers entirely, back on July 4 the whole family packed up and moved a town over.  Left majority of my babies in the ground and only took what was reasonable to fit in my vehicle. I did do a transplant, I mean a full on full bush transplant. Talking about shock I thought i had lost it but never gave up on it, watered it weekly till i saw signs of life and it finally made a come back... All right guys enough of me rambling on lets get down to the ladies....   Starting off is the all famous Mr. Jalapeno on a stick...     Here we have the PI 260567 one of my favorite now....     These are a first for me to grow, Scotch Bonnet MOA Red...
morro's garden
Hi all, This is my second year growing peppers and also my second glog here. I have overwintered 10 plants and have been battling aphids for 4 months. I am winning, but because of the neem oil applications the new growth and flowers got burned. They are still alive though... The OW list, not 100% sure, have to check the labels: Scotch Bonnet Red Peach Bhut Jolokia Red Bhut Jolokia Fatalii 7pot Brain Strain Yellow (it's orange actually) Douglah Brown 7 pod Moruga Scorpion Carolina Reaper Habanero orange Habanero Carribean Red   Received a ton of seeds (see below) from az1000 so this year will be an experiment of pubescens grow in a not so friendly environment. They were started on 2 February. Today, the germinated vs sow list is:  ...
JustOsmo - 2017 Grow
Just figured I'd make a place to post all my pictures. Just took my three biggest plants out of the Greenhouse cold box and transplanted them to buckets and made room for more from my closet. Here is two Kung Pao and one chocolate Bhut or reaper, I didn't label well. Tomorrow when I water I'll get some pictures of the rest of the plants in the Greenhouse Coldbox.
sboustani2023 first timer, growing habanero/jalapeno/cayenne
Hey I just wanted to log my progress, and find any help that I need lol. I'm not really an experienced grower, I have an apple tree I planted in my front lawn and I have put some grass seed on my lawn before.    4/12 Started germination of the (red, yellow, chocolate) Habanero, paper towel in zip lock bag method   4/21 Transferred to jiffy small pot when tails came out of the seeds   4/25 Started germination of Jalapeno/Cayenne/Pimiento, paper towel in zip lock bag method   4/29 Small sprouts came up, 1 Chocolate, 1 Red, and 3 Yellow   4/30 Transferred to jiffy small pot when tails came out Jalapeno/Cayenne/Pimiento   5/3 Chocolate Habanero has first set of true leaves coming out, the rest have just the starter leaves.       Growing...
Pickler's peppers
It's fun to watch these grow, and I'm learning as I go.  I tried container gardening last year and had a brown thumb...killed everything or it didn't fruit.  If you see anything that could use fixing, shout it out.  Some of the plants got too much water from a rain spell a few weeks back.  I'm trying to get them back to their healthy green color.  (For whatever reason, they look more yellow in the top photo than in person.  For instance, the Scorpion in the front left is the same plant as in photo #2).  Watering has been the crux; it gets REALLY hot here, so without watering daily/every day they fry, but it's easy to overdo it it seems.   With all that, here they are.   (2) Carolina Reapers (Pic #3) (2) Bhut Jolokia (front, middle and...

Had some dirt left over from a job, so I added it to the garden . Trying to gain more planting space, without increasing the footprint of the garden. Decided on removing the stone border and adding dirt all around to the fence. Figured this will allow for at least 6-8 more plants. Grow list: Pending
I first found out about the Zapotec Jalapeno through Gary Montcalm aka windchicken . I thought it only fitting that Beth Boyd be remembered in a memorial grow. The story & history behind this Jalapeno is simply amazing! I ordered mine form Jim Duffy & they are on there way now. Description form Jim Duffy Site . Zapotec Jalapeno-(Capsicum annuum)-The Zapotec Jalapeno is an Old World Jalapeno from Oaxaca, Mexico. It was one of the many older peppers that date back to the time of the Aztecs. But why you are seeing it now is because it has a story. I obtained mine from Louisiana grower and friend Gary Montcalm. But Gary found out about this pepper from Beth Boyd. So I, Jim Duffy have decided that this informational post about the Zapotec...
Slug's 2017 Ghetto Grow Log.
Just wanted to post some pics and thank some people for helping me get back on my feet in the growing sense after a really bad year.  Someone mistakenly threw out almost my entire seed stock as they were trying to help around my place when I was in hospital last year.  RalphTheChilihead and kentishman did me a solid by sending several varieties my way even though I didn't have much left to trade with them.  Thanks to those two guys and a local friend, I've got a proper grow going this year in spite of everything.  AJ Drew and Wicked Mike supplemented my grocery store habs with proper superhots for a great price, which cheered me up considerably in the meantime.  Really appreciate you guys.  :)   Here's my grow tent.  It's where I start...

WindowBoxGardner First Glog 2017
First time writing a Glog AND planting in a raised garden bed because I just purchased my home in April of this yr and it came with the raised bed! Whaaat?!?! Hell yeah!! Usually Im planting in large pots or there was a space for about 4 plants to grow in the ground. The growing space I had before I moved, was very very small. I think the garage was bigger than the backyard! I knew after I moved into my new home, I would have a chance to grow in this raised bed an be satisfied growin some peppers and tomatoes until I could turn half the backyard dirt over for next season. (Thinking bigger for next season already) All I did to this bed was add 5 bags of garden soil, turned it over, an planted as soon as I could The pepper...

Super Hots Canada - 2017
Hey folks,   So I've been pretty quiet over this last year compared to past years. Much of my personal life took a negative turn last year in April when, within the space of two weeks, my longest relationship came to a crashing halt and then my closest friend passed away.   Last summer I also launched the website for my business, but to date not a single has been placed through my website.. I attempted to promote it a bit on here and also through posts and ads on Facebook and posts on Twitter.. Looking at the database there has been the rare person here and there that has tried adding products to the cart, but that's about it.. I think the hard lesson here is that I first need to build some local trust and reputation in order to start...

Mini Rocoto doing great, but it seems to hate the heat. We get a cool day, it puts out 15 flowers, then the next day they drop.      One pod so far!     Habaneros look like they've got tails, might have ended up with something a little hotter than what I was looking for.      This guy looks like he's had some developmental issues.      Here's the other rocoto I'm growing, same problem as the first but seems to put out flowers every night and during the day they all drop. Hopefully later this year they'll do a little better when it begins to cool down!      Turns out what I thought was Bhut orange copenhagen is actually caramel bhut. Going to burn like hell nonetheless     I don't know what this is, but it looks tasty.        One...
This will be my first hot pepper grow in which I'm starting from seed.  I thought it would be fun to document my season in this glog.  Before I get started I want to give a big thanks to many of THP's members that have been helping me along the way.   I have been able to put together a rather large collection of over 100 different species of pepper seeds over the course of last year.  With careful thought and limited grow space I have narrowed it down to growing these plants this season.   Without further ado here is my list of peppers I have decided to grow this season. I will update my glog with plenty of photos to document my grow during each stage of the process.    Wish me luck; I'm sure I will need it.   Brainstrain (red)...

Wicked Mike's 2017: Enter the Dragon
Hey hey!   Working on getting an inventory of my plants and reorganizing things so I can find them. Current count for one-gallon and larger material is somewhere around nine hundred or so, not counting all the new stuff coming up in fours (not to mention all the nonpepper stuff).Updates to come as I get my feet under me.   In the meanwhile, it occurs to me that not everyone is on Facebook. In addition to last year's crosses, I'm working on a few new things:   7 Pot Burgundgum   7 Pot Leopard   Yaki White   Biquinho, Sweet Yellow   Jenna   Naga Rex   Murupi Roxa     Emperor Scorpion   Temple of Doom   And a few things I don't have pictures of at the moment.
